likewise of a letter addressed on the 7th Instant by the officiating Deputy Colonial Secretary to the Assistant Military Secretary to the Honorable Major General D'Aquilar Commanding Her Majesty's Troops in China, and of an answer to Lord Stanley's Despatch written by the Governor on the 18th Instant.
These documents will place you in perfect possession of the decision and commands of Her Majesty's Government and you will also learn from Enclosure N°4 that the locations pointed out in the Despatch of the 5th of November from the Secretary to the Admiralty to His Excellency Vice Admiral Sir William Parker's address are still entirely unappropriated.
We will also presume that you are aware that an extent of Twelve acres of Ground for the site of a Naval Hospital, Dwelling Houses for the Officers to be attached to it, &c. applied for by Sir William Parker in a letter dated the 6th of September last, and that on the following day the Governor wrote to His Excellency that the Land Officer had been instructed to reserve that quantity of ground at the spot pointed out, which has accordingly been done.
We have every reason to expect that by an early opportunity orders will reach us from Her Majesty's Government authorizing the creation of a church in this Colony and the ground which has all along been specially...
